Admission Requirements

Diploma in Commerce/Management Studies

(i) ‘A’ Level Holders – applicants with at least 2 passes not lower than grade D in subjects including Accounting or Business Management can gain direct admission to the Diploma in Business Studies leading to either P.DCO or P.DMS degree. In addition, they must possess credits in ‘O’ level Mathematics and English.

(ii) ‘O’ Level Holders – Applicants with pass in five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics and Principles of Accounts with not more than aggregate 15 can enter for the Diploma programme leading to
B. Commerce Degree.

Applicants with pass in five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics and Business Management or Commerce with not more than aggregate 15 can enter for the diploma programme leading
B. Management Studies Degree.

(iii) SSSCE Holders and DBS – Applicants must have passes in three core subjects (English, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three electives in Business studies not exceeding aggregate 15 for admission to the diploma leading to either B. Commerce or
B. Management Studies.

Post-Diploma Degree in Commerce/Business Management
Applicants must be holders of either:

  • (i) Diploma in Commerce/Management Studies; or
  • (ii) Part III of any professional course in Accountancy/Management e.g. ICA, ICMA, ACCA, ICSA; or
  • (iii) HND 2nd Class Lower Division or better.

Mature Candidates

Candidates must be at least 25 years of age. They must have GCE ‘O’ Level in at least five (5) subjects with credit passes in English Language and Mathematics.
Mature candidates with substantial work experience of about 10 years or more but without the stated academic qualification in English Language and Mathematics will also be considered. Such mature applicants must satisfy the university Requirements by enrolling in the remedial course. Candidates will be required to answer question in a special paper covering Management, Accounting and Economics.

Entrance Examinations

Entrance Examinations shall be held once a year during the second semester holidays in the month of April/May on a date to be fixed by the University. This examination, known as Special Entrance Examination (SEE), is designed for all serving teachers and workers who do not have the 4/5 ‘O’ level credits or the specified aggregate.
These candidates, who will be considered for admission to the Diploma in Commerce/Management Studies, shall take special papers in Economics, Accounting and Business Management. Candidates should obtain a score of 50% in each of the three (3) papers to qualify for admission.
Three to five weeks of preparatory classes shall be held prior to the entrance examination at the selected centres in Ghana.
